Dodder-This is a flowering plant with no chlorophyl. The leaves have been reduced to scales on the stems. When the seed germinates, the seedling grows toward the smell of other plants. It has five to ten days to reach them or it will die. When the dodder attaches itself to a plant it produces haustoria that insert themselves into the vascular system of the host.
